Holy Week at the Community Church
Wednesday, 24 March 2010 14:47

You are invited to join us at the Community Church for the very special services of Holy Week.

PALM SUNDAY is on March 28th and will be observed at both our Sunday services with the waving of palm branches as we join the throngs of long ago welcoming the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem. Services are at 8:00 and 10:15 AM.

MAUNDY THURSDAY will be observed on April 1st. This is the night Jesus shared a Last Supper with his followers, and we will do the same as we receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion. This worship experience is built around the theme of Tenebrae, or "darkening." Seven candles are extinguished one at a time as Scripture passages about Jesus' betrayal, arrest and crucifixion are read. This service begins at 7:00 PM.

GOOD FRIDAY, on April 2nd, is the day Christians pause between Noon and 3:00 PM, the traditional hours of the crucifixion of Jesus. You are invited to come to our Sanctuary between those times - for a portion of time or for the entire period. A printed meditation booklet will lead you through "The Stations of the Cross." After your period of meditation, you may self-administer Communion at the front of the Sanctuary.

EASTER SUNDAY dawns on April 4th with two Sunrise services at 6:30 AM. Rev. Rhonda Blevins will lead one service at Rarity Bay, and Dr. Tim Meadows will be at the Kahite Neighborhood of Tellico Village. Both sunrise locations offer breakfast afterwards. Call the respective clubhouses to reserve. These Sunrise services will be held rain or shine. Sanctuary services will be held at 8:00 and 10:15 AM at the church campus, with Senior Pastor Martin Singley preaching. Breakfast will also be served there - between the two services - in the Tellico Joe Cafe. Tickets are available through the church office for $5.
