Our faith calls us to care for each other and at the Community Church we take this calling very seriously.
Pastoral Care & Counseling
The ministry of care begins with our Pastors who will visit you in the hospital or at home, and welcome you into their offices for counseling, prayer, or just to talk. Our pastors consider nothing more important than to be there for you when you need them. We ask our members and friends to let us know when they or a neighbor need help. Our pastors will go to the hospital to be there for an emergency patient or family. If the patient belongs to another church, we will contact that church or pastor. To schedule an appointment for pastoral care or counseling, contact the church office.
Funerals, Memorial Services, and Columbarium
Our church is available to anyone for funerals or memorial services. Our pastors stand ready to walk with the bereaved through planning a special service to honor the one you love. Our bereavement team assists with cookies and beverages, guest books, and programs. We have several niches available in our beautiful columbarium. Contact the church office for more information about funerals or our columbarium.
One way we care for each other is through our Stephen Ministry. Stephen Ministers are lay members who have undergone 50-hours of specialized training in the art of Christian caregiving. Our Stephen Ministers are paired up with individuals who are going through difficult times. They are great Christian friends who will listen to you, help you find guidance, and love you as a special friend for as long as you need. Times that might warrant the care of a Stephen Minister include loss or grief, loneliness, depression, times of crisis, or when you are working through a variety of personal problems where a skilled and caring support person can make a difference.
Our church sponsors several support groups that meet on a regular basis: Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s Caregivers,
Caregivers, and Alcoholics Anonymous. Contact the church office for more information.
The lunch bunch is a group of fun-loving friends, many of whom have faced the loss of a spouse, or the decline of health, or some other challenge. The lunch bunch meets monthly for fellowship and a wonderful lunch. Let the church office know if you’d like to join in.
Our bus ministry provides transportation for those not otherwise able to attend worship services, luncheons, and fellowship outings. Let us know if you need a ride or if you’d like to become one of our drivers.
Prayer Shawl Ministry/Mats for the Homeless
This is a group of people who love to knit. The shawls they create are knitted prayerfully, asking the Lord to bless the person who receives it. You may take a prayer shawl from the supply and give it to anyone you know who needs to be enfolded in God’s love. Some individuals from this group also make mats for the homeless out of plastic bags. Do you knit or crochet? They’d love to have you join them. Contact the church office for more information.
