Compassion Ministries
The Community World Engagement Team is excited to announce a new partnership between Community Church at Tellico Village and Compassion Ministries. Compassion Ministries is a 501(c)3 non-profit and has been serving local families and meeting disaster needs for over a decade. In 2019, the organization provided food to 82,475 individuals! Our church first volunteered with Compassionate Ministries when doing disaster relief in Cookeville, TN this spring. We were impressed both with their resources and with the organization’s commitment to being the hands and feet of Jesus. Their greatest need right now is for volunteers to help with distribution of food at their food pantries. We have committed to sending volunteers from our church for two main programs. For both the local and mobile pantries, the work you would do in distributing food as a volunteer would involve being on your feet for an extended period of time and light lifting. You are welcome to volunteer for the entire time or for a shift. First, there is a local pantry at Cornerstone Church in Farragut, TN which needs volunteers on Thursdays from 1:00pm-6:00pm on the following dates:
August 20th
September 17th
October 15th
November 12th.
Second, Compassion Ministries provides a mobile food pantry once a month to area counties. We are asking for volunteers on Friday, June 12th in Roane County, from 9:00am-4:00pm. While this is a longer time commitment, the mobile pantry meets an incredible need and often sees over 1,000 people served.
We believe in Compassion Ministries mission and have seen God work in connecting us to them. We hope you’ll consider volunteering. To volunteer find out more information, please contact Marla Tedesco at marla.tedesco@yahoo.com.
